The real story of Patrick Winningoes-1

https://www.amazon.it/real-story-Patrick-Winningoes-Salvatore-ebook/dp/B0B244SFNQ

«I will soon be back, make yourselves at home, please» - the man said going out. We looked at each other, George and I. It had only been from the morning that we didn’t have a chance to stay alone, however I swear that it seemed to me as it was an eternity.

He spoke for the first . -«That’s a real story of madness! »– he burst out taking a seat in one of the four wood armchairs that were around a circular table in the center of the small room
–«This man must be crazy ! Let's put him off as soon as is back and let's escape from here, until we are in time»–he added while I was taking a seat in front of him.

-«Just a moment, George, may be it will seem strange to you, but I don't feel afraid of this man! He inspires a sort of trust on me, despite his strangeness.»

-«But do you realize what are you talking about? Have you gone out of sense too? This man must have some extraordinary powers: hasn't he hypnotized us just slightly before? Have you also heard him talk of super-races and brain's experiments  or have I dreamed of it?»–George attacked me nervously.

-«Be quiet, please, George» - I told him in a calm voice. –«First of all, I don't believe he has hypnotized us, just before. Secondly, if he is really so powerful as you say, what could be his reaction, when we try to immobilize him? Make a point on it:  when we arrived here, we were both sleepy. Therefore if he  wanted to use us as guinea-pigs, two punctures were enough for him to knock us down!  On the other hand I have not still seen nor cats that resemble to mice, neither men with a square brain! Who can be sure that the old man is not inventing everything? It would not surprise me if this story derived from the imagination of some fantastical writer. I want to go to the end of all these circumstances. Don’t  you also want to know what kind of job's proposal Mr Winningoes is going to make us?»

George gazed for a long time in to my eyes, thoughtfully. Then, without answering, he relaxed on the back of the chair, releasing the muscles and breathing deeply.

He stood with half open  eyes crossing at once the feet and the hands softly on the womb,  with the right hand covering the palm of the left one. He seemed to me almost slept, while only the breath animated his body.

Won by all those unexpected and subsequent emotions, I also imitated him doing my best on sitting comfort on the wood ancient chair.

to be continued...

Please don't go

Please don't go away
We share the same history
Our roots are merged
in a common mud
made of blood, of sweat, of love.

We have walked together
since that day Julius Caesar
discovered that my land and your land
were just parts of the same unity.

Please don't go:
we need each other
we need to minge together
our fantasy and your cleverness
our genius and your greatness.

Europe won't be
the same without you
Albion sons, Cox brothers:
just don't go away.

Another Europe is possible

I'm following the debate on Brexit. As everybody knows there are two positions on the ground:Leavers and  Remainers. But things are not so simple as one might think.
The leavers split up in two opposite parties: those who want to leave at any rate (we may call them hard brexiters, like the former London Major David Johnson) and those who want a good deal in order to soften in some way the negative impact of leaving the single market.
But also the Remainers are in some way divided: there are those who want to stay in the single market because they don't want to loose the profits which come from staying and there are those who want to stay because they believe in Europe as a new political reality capable to face the challenges that are waiting for us in this new century.
As Italian I belong to those Eruropeans who believe that another Europe is possible.
But not only we need another Europe to be stronger against the giants of the world: as a matter of fact we want to stay together because we feel we are brothers in Europe (someone says we are just cousins) and we share the same roots, the same history, the same culture.
Let's stick together to make a Great Europe, English, Scottish and Irish brothers!

To exit or no to exit

Yesterday, half a million  people, marched  in London against the Brexit.
I've already written in this blog what I think of this theme.
I love all UK, its people, its multinational culture, its different, strong tradition whatever they might decide to do on Brexit. Even if  they would be out of EU I would keep on loving and respecting their great democracy and their great Country.
Nevertheless I  hope that Great Britain remains in the European Union.
We need them as well as they need us to be together.
United Kingdom, English, Scottish and Irish people are part of Europe.
The European, different people, like English, French, Spanish, Italians, Germans, Danish and all the others, are like those cousins which have a common inheritance to share: it's better to find an agreement and keep on together.
We have already fight too much to conquer and manage on our own, exluding the others, the whole inheritance and it has been a disaster.
Who does not remember the cruel wars the ones against the others? How many have them been? I cannot even count them out since the Roman Empire has collapsed, almost sixteen centuries ago.
That's enough my  European friend.
I want we to stay together, with our differences, with our peculiarities, defending our own culture but sharing our friendship, building a new great Country to face the new millennial challenges against the giants of the world (I don't only mean USA, but also China, India and the others emergeing, dangerous  powers).
And I can't forget the sweet face of Helen Joanne Cox who has died for the European dream to be true.
Please, don't let her blood sacrifice be useless.
I embrace you, brothers of Albion. Do what you think is better for you but don't forget that together we'll be stronger. Europe is strong if we keep together though someone would prefer to split us.
The good things to joint are much more than those to break up.
And London is for ever, anyway.

Beyond the Hadrian Wall

Scottish PM Nicola Sturgeon has called for a new referendum on Scotland leaving the UK.
That's a straight consequence of  premier May triggering the article 50 of European Treaty in order to drive UK out of EU ( the so called Brexit).
Edinborough does not want to leave Bruxelles and Scottish people want to remain in the European Union.
As matter of fact the large majority of Scots voted for remaining in the june referendum last year.
So London risks to pay a very high price leaving EU.
But if Edinborough succeeds on its idea of breaking the unity with London, then we will have to say that English have succeeded where even the Roman Empire had failed: joining the Caledonian lands to the western civilised countries, while England will remain off the Hadrian Wall.
I ask my English friends if it is worth all this.
Please, put apart your pride and come back on your steps.
EU needs to be changed from inside.
We need London staying with us. We want Scotland staying within.
Can anyone do anything to stop an odd and casual disaster like Brexit seems to be?
Anyway, London will be in my heart for ever.

A Brotherhood of European People

I feel it's a real shame the exit of Great Britain from European Union. Of course I totally respect the decision taken by British People the last 23rd of June but  let my dreams soar in the sky. I have dreamed of a Great Europe where the Italians start studying English language at six and French Schools teach italian culture in one with their own culture and together with the other European stories and knowledge. And I've dreamed of a unique country from the Adrian Wall to the Atlantic Ocean and from there to Sicily and up to River Rhine in Deutchland...
Sorry to be a dreamer but I can't live with out.
And once you have known It London is for ever.

The supremacy of law

It has not been a surprise the Supreme Court vote on the Brexit affair. At least for those who know the long, noble history of both English legislative and Judicial powers.
On the other end we all know that between the legislative power (the Parliament) and the executive power (id est the Governement) the first is higher.
The law is to uphold over ministers.
Legally and logically: if the Parliament has delivered the entry of Great Britain in the EU, how could the Governement only think to ride the Country out of it without consulting the Parliament?
Someone may say that the Electorate is much more worth than the same Members of Parliament (who eventually are elected by the Electorate). But in this sick democracy we are liveing  in I'm not sure the Electorate is really free in his thoughts.
I'm thinking, for instance, of press and television's power.
Papers and television are able to influence the Electorate more than we might think.
And I'm not sure either that another vote, today, would see the Brexit's prevail.
Of course I know that the televisions and the papers are part of the society and if people believe on what they write and say that makes democracy going on.
But let me please rebut that if ten people are able to make twenty millions of electors to think as they want the, to think, then we are not living in a democracy (we are live in a plutocracy or in a mediocracy).
And let me please say another thing: I'm very worried about this secret or evident powers, as far as they in a certain way are allowing politicians dealmakers and warmongers to rule the world who knows where about (I hope they won't lead us in the brink of a precipice).
And for the memory of Jo Cox (and for her bllod spread for European Unity) I hope the British Parliament will reconsider at least the importance of the    single market, the customs union and free movements of goods and people all over Europe (including all the Great Britain).
I respect the will of  the majority of British people, as expressed in the referendum of last June, but I wanted all Britons great with the other Europeans (Italians, French, Germans, Spanish) and not with the NorthAmericans (though I feel sentiments of friendship even with the Americans).
And I don't want see the Europeans making war with each other like in the past.

Brexit-III

Meanwhile sterling has slid to its lowest lever against the dollar in the last seven years. And many big companies in Britain have expressed the choose to remain in. These are part of the result for fearing Brexit.
It's useless to say the the political destiny of Mr Cameron is now in the polls.
It's very hard to imagine his staying still in Dowining street if he looses his campaign for UK remaining in the European Union.
Now the debate between the two parties, pro Brexit and against, is getting warmer.
The Brexiters say UK will become greater again out of the European club. They also add that economic adavantages can be provided by bilateral agreements as many other countries have done with the EU; and they quote Canada, South Korea, India, China and many others.
Nevertheless observers note that bilateral economic treaties might not work the same with Great Britain. Furthermore there is much more involving of EU in the fight against terrorism that Britain could not achieve on its own.
It seems to me that most of the Brexiters issues are only nothing but a nostalgic dream over a greatness which can be reached only staying inside the European Union.
And this is woth also for France and Germany.
But the road for an integrated political EU is still hard; just paved with good intentions, at the very moment.
I still believe, none the same, the European Union has a great future: with or without English people.
3. the end.
