CARPE DIEM

The maxim "Carpe diem" has currently risen to a different meaning from the original Horace's lyric poet of the Carmina.
As matter of fact Horace's dialogue to the young Leuconoe is not an invitation to enjoy blindly the life, but is better a call to live the possible happyness that the incertainty of our life can offer to us (carpe diem: quam minimum credulo postero).
In this point of view "carpe diem" accords with the right meaning contained in Saint Mathew's Gospel (Chapter 6, 25-31) with which Jesus invites us to live today without the ambush for tomorrow.
So we can say, with Novalis that the great latin poet, Horace was the real priest-poet.

Sentenced to death

Do you remember those terrible sentences which include the final clause "'till life expires" or just "'till death comes"?
Well, once upon a time they were reserved to the worst criminals, in substitution of the capital punishment; now are bound to be applied for workers: the young ones, as matter of fact, will have to work till death comes!
In other words they will not able to afford any sort of retirement being this way forced to work for all their lives!

Once upon a time there was an island, just a little off shore, in the south-east of London. Its name is Isle of Wight. It was a symbol of Freedom, of Music and Peace. Let's pray for the souls of the deads and fot he lifes of those poor boys. I hope for them too that the Isle of Wight still remains a synonimous of Freedom, Music and Peace.

Only two hundred years left

That's the time Manhood has left before the Earth been destroyed ( by nuclear disaster and/or accident.)
It's the qualified opinion espressed by astrofisicist Stephen Hawking in an interview released to a Webchannel.
The great scientist also believes that Humanity needs to colonize the space, in order to survive to his own destruction.
He added that crisis such that suffered in 1963, at the time Russian and American risk to face each other in a nuclear world war for Cuban missils, will have place again and again in the next history of men's relation, making the risk of selfdestruction.
But if men succeed in avoiding such an event in the next two hundred years, they will be able to conquer the space.
