Brexit, proud and business

Who is going to win the struggle between proud and business about Brexit in UK?
Proud pushes for leaving  but money and business hint for remaining.
I understand the reasons of the proud leavers: I've been a proud citizen of the Roman empire, thousands of years ago; but I can also see the reasons of the business men  who are threathening to move their firms abroad if the PM May insists on her no deal project.
I've already expressed  in this blog my point of view on Brexit: I respect the will of British people and I won't cease to be fond of their culture even if they leave EU.
Nevertheless I want clearly make evdence of my desire to see UK stay in Europe, in the European Union, in order to struggle together to improve the Union, to face the giants of the old and the new economy raising their shadows to overwhelm and rule the world (I mean USA, Russia, together with China, India, Brazil and others).
Furthermore I want to add something which is subject of debate in all the so called domocratic Country, specially after the Cambridge Analycta's scandal and the Russiagate.
In western democracies,  as an historic  achievement,  we have obtained the equality in politic elections: that means, one man, one vote.
But some acute observers started criticizing this equality in the following terms: too many people are heavily impressionable and even manipulable; because of that  they go to the polls  without understanding very well what they are voting for .
It seems that this is what happened in the Trump's election in USA and even in the june 2016 election for Brexit.
These arguments are very dangerous, for they risk to threat the basis of our democracy, as a result for a millennial struggle for equality.
This not less the argument deserves a deep meditation on how fragile can be our democracy and how much we need, from one hand very strict rules on social network and mass media; from another hand how much is important to form a political, leading  class  capable to face the strong powers and represent strongly and kindly rule the poor people.

London for ever - 10

I’ve  recently been to  an important conference which took place in London in the premises of the Royal  Law Society.
It was organized by an important International Law Firm called SLIG, founded by the three Gaglione Brothers (Alessandro, Giuseppe and Roberto) who are  skillful lawyers both in Italy and in Egland and Wales (as a matter of fact they practise in London  as Solicitors and in Rome as Lawyers in a high degree of expertise ).
It was about being solicitors in England and Wales today and what presumably it could be after Brexit. It was really  very thrilling for me to meet a lot of lawyers coming from so many different towns in Italy and lawyers who practise in London as Solicitors or under different labels (but still in the juridical field).
Though I’m already in my sixties I’m still able to dream. And to be a solicitor in London is one of my dreams.
In the afternoon there was even a space for us to pose some question to three English solicitors come to show us what Brexit might change in the legal profession for Italian lawyers in England and Wales. The scenario they drew up wasn’t not all catastrophic, though surely remains a certain degree of uncertainty.
I was tempted to take the  word just to say how I’m sad of the Brexit (though I respect the democratic expression of British voters; we could even say a lot about the way the 2016 June’s  referendum was held and what kind of negative, external forces influenced the voters, but I still respect the road our British friends are taking to drive their Country out of EU, saving the Unity of the Kingdom and doing the best for themselves).
I’m not neutral as the Solicitors Regulation Association are. I’ve already said that I wanted UK staying in the E.U. because I believe that British are essential part of the European brotherhood I’m fond of.
That's why I say London is for ever.
after the Conference The SLIG Firm had a suprise for all of us: they brought all around London in a free tour in a wonderful, original  Router Master double deck red bus.
I want to thank Alessandro Gaglione and his brothers also for this final present.
That's why I still think London is for ever.

10. to be continued…

One year ago

One year ago (and two days) Jo Cox was shot dead by a right far fanatic who didn't agree her committment in politic and social subjects.
Joanne Cox was a MP for the Labours and when the crazy man assaulted her, she was busy in her Constituency for the coming referendum to decide if UK had to stay or to leave European Union.
As we all know British choose to leave. But this doesn't matter, in the end. I mean that I keep on feeling sentiments of brotherhood to British people though they decided to leave.
The day before yesterday some people have seen their bravery recongnised by great british honours: two policemen and two other people who helped Jo Cox against the blind violence of hate who took her life away.
A foundation has now been founded in the name of Jo Cox (see the link below).
I don't know if this foundation is also pro European Union but I'm sure it is not against anyone.
And this is what it's important at the best.
I have not known Jo Cox when she was alive but I know she was for solidarity, brotherhood and friendship all over the world and not only in Europe.
And I still say that London is for ever.

Beyond the Hadrian Wall

Scottish PM Nicola Sturgeon has called for a new referendum on Scotland leaving the UK.
That's a straight consequence of  premier May triggering the article 50 of European Treaty in order to drive UK out of EU ( the so called Brexit).
Edinborough does not want to leave Bruxelles and Scottish people want to remain in the European Union.
As matter of fact the large majority of Scots voted for remaining in the june referendum last year.
So London risks to pay a very high price leaving EU.
But if Edinborough succeeds on its idea of breaking the unity with London, then we will have to say that English have succeeded where even the Roman Empire had failed: joining the Caledonian lands to the western civilised countries, while England will remain off the Hadrian Wall.
I ask my English friends if it is worth all this.
Please, put apart your pride and come back on your steps.
EU needs to be changed from inside.
We need London staying with us. We want Scotland staying within.
Can anyone do anything to stop an odd and casual disaster like Brexit seems to be?
Anyway, London will be in my heart for ever.
