The Bully Boy

Donald Trump reminds me of that bully boy, a playmate from my childhood, with whom we played football.
Unlike us, he was a kind of  child, to whom his parents did not deny anything.
Some evenings, when he got tired of his individual games, he would join us in the small  field where we strolled around until the sun went down. Often he  brought with him a new football of his.
Then two teams were formed. I remember that he wanted to build his team with the strongest and most capable, even if the latter were not always happy to be on his side.
Nonetheless, when his team lost, or he couldn't score, or things didn't turn as he said, he accused the referee of favoritism and in order to win, he was able to argue that one of his shots, clearly out of goal,  had instead entered the mirror of the door.
When he was unable to impose his will, he would walk away, taking his balloon with him.
So, sometimes, in order not to remainfootballless, we would bow his head and give it to him.
This is what Donald Trump clearly  did.
He wanted to take the White House away, because the voters didn't vote him.
But this time, the owner of the ball went wrong.

Aytaç Unsal Free

While some proud boys are attenting to democracy at Capitol Hill, some other  turkish proud boys are attempting the core og the law at Istambul, arresting Aytaç Unsal, a lawyer accused  for defending in a trial the  oppositors of Turkish proud boys leader Erdogan!

Let's remember that any time a dictator attempts the right of defence in a trial, he attempts to democracy.

The right of defence is a result of a millennial struggle against the power, in order to guarantee to any defendant, not matter if guilty or not guilty, the legal defence in a trial.

The assault to Capital Hill, the arrest of Aytaç Unsal, even the abuse of patience of some new, modern Ctilina in Rome, are ominous signals of the sunset of our democracy in nowdays world.

Let's rise the voice against dictatorship, against anarchy, against the law of the strongest.

Let's howl at one voice: Free Aytaç Unsal in Turkey! Right now!

Profilcracy:the power of the people vs the power of datacollecters

We all know that the word democracy comes form ancient Greek language and means power of the people.
But after discovering what kind of manipulation has done Cambridge Analityca in order to influence the vote of the Brexit and the election of american president Trump in 2016 I'm really doubting of the real meaning of the word democracy.
What does really remain of the the original meaning of the word in our times?
May be it would be  better  to talk about profilcracy!
Yes, it would be! Since the primary techonologic social firms own a lot of our data and they use them to profile us, in the best case just to sell our profiles to the web operating firms.
But in the worst we may become just target for untrustful politicians who just believe in power: the power of the pofilmakers; not the power of the people.

Brexit, proud and business

Who is going to win the struggle between proud and business about Brexit in UK?
Proud pushes for leaving  but money and business hint for remaining.
I understand the reasons of the proud leavers: I've been a proud citizen of the Roman empire, thousands of years ago; but I can also see the reasons of the business men  who are threathening to move their firms abroad if the PM May insists on her no deal project.
I've already expressed  in this blog my point of view on Brexit: I respect the will of British people and I won't cease to be fond of their culture even if they leave EU.
Nevertheless I want clearly make evdence of my desire to see UK stay in Europe, in the European Union, in order to struggle together to improve the Union, to face the giants of the old and the new economy raising their shadows to overwhelm and rule the world (I mean USA, Russia, together with China, India, Brazil and others).
Furthermore I want to add something which is subject of debate in all the so called domocratic Country, specially after the Cambridge Analycta's scandal and the Russiagate.
In western democracies,  as an historic  achievement,  we have obtained the equality in politic elections: that means, one man, one vote.
But some acute observers started criticizing this equality in the following terms: too many people are heavily impressionable and even manipulable; because of that  they go to the polls  without understanding very well what they are voting for .
It seems that this is what happened in the Trump's election in USA and even in the june 2016 election for Brexit.
These arguments are very dangerous, for they risk to threat the basis of our democracy, as a result for a millennial struggle for equality.
This not less the argument deserves a deep meditation on how fragile can be our democracy and how much we need, from one hand very strict rules on social network and mass media; from another hand how much is important to form a political, leading  class  capable to face the strong powers and represent strongly and kindly rule the poor people.

The supremacy of law

It has not been a surprise the Supreme Court vote on the Brexit affair. At least for those who know the long, noble history of both English legislative and Judicial powers.
On the other end we all know that between the legislative power (the Parliament) and the executive power (id est the Governement) the first is higher.
The law is to uphold over ministers.
Legally and logically: if the Parliament has delivered the entry of Great Britain in the EU, how could the Governement only think to ride the Country out of it without consulting the Parliament?
Someone may say that the Electorate is much more worth than the same Members of Parliament (who eventually are elected by the Electorate). But in this sick democracy we are liveing  in I'm not sure the Electorate is really free in his thoughts.
I'm thinking, for instance, of press and television's power.
Papers and television are able to influence the Electorate more than we might think.
And I'm not sure either that another vote, today, would see the Brexit's prevail.
Of course I know that the televisions and the papers are part of the society and if people believe on what they write and say that makes democracy going on.
But let me please rebut that if ten people are able to make twenty millions of electors to think as they want the, to think, then we are not living in a democracy (we are live in a plutocracy or in a mediocracy).
And let me please say another thing: I'm very worried about this secret or evident powers, as far as they in a certain way are allowing politicians dealmakers and warmongers to rule the world who knows where about (I hope they won't lead us in the brink of a precipice).
And for the memory of Jo Cox (and for her bllod spread for European Unity) I hope the British Parliament will reconsider at least the importance of the    single market, the customs union and free movements of goods and people all over Europe (including all the Great Britain).
I respect the will of  the majority of British people, as expressed in the referendum of last June, but I wanted all Britons great with the other Europeans (Italians, French, Germans, Spanish) and not with the NorthAmericans (though I feel sentiments of friendship even with the Americans).
And I don't want see the Europeans making war with each other like in the past.
