Final Essay in New York City

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTTSX694

Fourth Scene

(Geena, with the bloom in her hands starts singing her song)

Since I was a kid in New Orleans

I’ve been dreaming to play comedy

In the daylight I’m glad to wash and clean

But in the night I live no misery

What does it matter for a girl

But happiness and love?

While sweeping the streets of the town

I’m sure my Mel won’t never let me down!

(occupying the center of the scene J.B. will sing his song)

Though this wonderful town

Was toughly hit to the Ground

It still maintains  the supremacy

We live, when the others live,

And we still live when the others sleep!

That’s why it needs

Anybody’s efforts

To be kept clean and safe

And growing higher,

How to Make Your Own Non-Toxic Cleaning Wipes

How to Make Your Own Non-Toxic Cleaning Wipes

The invention of the cleaning wipes was genius.  They make wiping up a mess or disinfecting door handles a snap.  The problem with these wipes is that sometimes the ingredients are a bit harsh and they can be a bit pricey.  Worry no more, check out this tutorial on how to make your own non-toxic cleaning wipes for less.
Step 1 Take a roll of 2-ply paper towels and cut it in half with a sharp knife.  Try to avoid serrated knives as sometimes they chew up the edge of the paper towels too much.
Step 2 Find a container that is big enough to put one half of the paper towels in.  A 4 quart round container is ideal, but sometimes difficult to find.  Square containers work fine too.  A large margarine tub is often the most efficient and handy choice.  Once you have found a container that the paper towels will fit into you will want to work the core of the paper towel roll free from the glue in the center and remove it.  Put the paper towel in the container cut side down.
Step 3 Mix together a solution of 1 ½ cups of white vinegar, 1 ½ cups of water, and a tablespoon of lemon juice (optional).
Step 4 Pour the solution all over the paper towels.  Snap the lid on and turn it upside down for about 5 minutes to let the solution completely saturate the paper towels.
Step 5 Turn the container right side up and cut an “X” in the top of the container.  Open the container and grab a paper towel from the center of the roll and feed it up through the “X” in the lid.  Snap the lid back on and you are ready to clean.
Germ fighter In order to make your wipes the germ killing kind you will need to go a step further with your solution.  Add ½ teaspoon of tea tree oil.  Make sure that you get the pure essential oil and not the cheap imitation stuff.
Window cleaning wipes Turn your wipes into window cleaning wipes by using a different solution.  Mix together ½ cup of rubbing alcohol, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 2 ½ cups of water.  Pour the solution over the paper towels as before and you will have wipes that will give you streak free windows.  To make sure your windows or mirrors are streak free you might want to dry them with some newspaper.
Tips If you’d like to give your wipes a nice fragrance add a few drops of an orange essential oil and wherever you clean will have a citrusy fresh scent.
Warning these wipes are not intended for baby care. These wipes are non-toxic, but it’s still a good idea to keep all cleaning products out of the reach of children.  Do not flush these wipes as the paper towels can still clog your plumbing even though they are non-toxic.

5 Tips for Getting Stains Out of Baby Clothes

From spit up to spinach, there’s nothing less attractive than when your baby sports a sweater with a yellow stain running down her side. While stains from food and bodily fluids can be stubborn, they are not impossible to remove.
Here are 5 tips for removing stubborn stains from your baby’s clothes:
1. Use an enzyme detergent to remove protein based stains. By breaking down the proteins found in food, formula, and bodily fluids such as vomit and diarrhea, enzyme based detergents are powerful stain busters. Detergents like Wisk or Era Plus are formulated to eat away at protein based stains and can restore fabrics to their prior stain-free conditions.
2. Use cornstarch to remove oil and grease stains. By absorbing the oils left from diaper cream, petroleum jelly, or baby oil, cornstarch or talcum powder may lift off the stain. Apply cornstarch to the affected area and let it sit on the stain for about 20 minutes. Scrape off the cornstarch before laundering.
3. Use a paste made of club soda and baking powder. For stubborn, set-in stains, make a paste of club soda and baking powder. Put it on the stain and let it sit for a half hour before scraping it off and laundering as usual. You may need to use a gentle bristled brush to work out the stain.
4. Make a Biz bin. Combine ¼ cup Biz Stain fighter, ¼ cup clear liquid dish soap, and 1 ½ gallons of boiling water. Soak your item until the stain is removed and launder as usual.  If the water gets dirty, drain and repeat before laundering.
5. Pre-treat fruit, veggie, and berry stains with a solution of rubbing alcohol and water. After washing your baby’s clothing item in cold water, apply an equal solution of rubbing alcohol and water to the stain. If the stain does not come out, treat with a product such as Shout or Spray ‘n’ Wash.
As a general rule, always rinse off any solids and soak fresh stains in cold water prior to treating. This alone is often enough to lift a fresh stain or prevent it from setting. Before treating the stained spot it is a good idea to test treat the item of clothing. Pick a hidden spot, perhaps on the inside of a seam, to test your stain solution to ensure the material can handle the stain treatment you plan on using.
You’ll also always want to be sure to check to see if the stain was removed prior to putting your child’s clothing item into the dryer. Putting your baby’s clothes into the dryer before the stain is fully removed can cause it to set and make it more difficult to remove.
Since baby skin can be super sensitive, you’ll want to be sure to thoroughly rinse any baby clothing that has been treated for stains and launder all of those items in the detergent you typically launder it in prior to her wearing.
While trying all different combinations of products can be tempting to remove tough stains, don’t combine chlorine bleach with ammonia or vinegar. Doing so can be a toxic combination.

5 Ways to Prevent Your Child from Catching a Cold

It’s inevitable that from time to time you and your child will be exposed to people who have a cold or who are spreading airborne germs.  While the odds are that your child will catch the occasional cold, there are certainly a few ways to reduce the number of colds that she gets.
  1. Try to keep ahead of the germs.  Disinfecting wipes or a water and bleach solution can be used for this task.  Make sure that you are regularly cleaning door knobs, handles, cabinets, toys, and anything else that little hands might come into contact with.  For every gallon of water, 1 ½ teaspoons of bleach should be added to create a solution to disinfect surfaces and toys. For diapering and toileting areas, 1 tablespoon of bleach can be added to 1 gallon of water. Let the bleach solution sit for 2 minutes before wiping it down.  If you are worried about your child coming into contact with chemicals, look for all-natural sanitizing solutions.  You’ll also want to make sure that everyone in the house frequently washes their hands with warm water and soap.
  2. Change toothbrushes often.  Toothbrushes can harbor germs and re-infect your child if the germs are not killed.  Dentists recommend that toothbrushes be replaced every 3 months if you are healthy, more often if you are not.  Toothbrushes should also be replaced after an illness. To kill germs soak the toothbrush in antiseptic mouthwash for 5 minutes or run your toothbrush through the dishwasher.  Warning: Boiling your toothbrush or running it through the dishwasher will wear out the bristles faster.
  3. Feed your child a healthy diet.  If your child eats a proper diet it will strengthen his immune system and he will be better able to fight off cold-causing germs.  Make sure he eats plenty of fruits and vegetables, as these contain the proper vitamins and minerals needed to build up his body’s natural defenses.  Eating foods high in vitamins is better for absorption of those vitamins than taking vitamin tablets.
  4. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water.  Water not only keeps your body hydrated during the very dry winter season, but it helps your body flush out unwanted toxins.  Water also helps your lymph system run better, which is part of your body’s immune system, and it fights off illness.
  5. Make sure your child gets enough sleep.  Sleeping is extremely important, and most people don’t get enough of it.  Doctors recommend that children sleep 10-11 hours per night.  A lack of sleep can affect how well your child grows because the body produces a growth hormone during sleep.  Digestion also takes place during sleep.  Bodies need this down time to recover and rebuild after a busy day of being a kid.  By getting enough sleep the body is better prepared to fight off germs.
